Modal logics of sabotage revisited
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sabotage modal logic was proposed in 2003 as a format for analyzing games that modify the graphs they are played on. We investigate some model-theoretic and proof-theoretic aspects of sabotage modal logic, which has largely come to be viewed as an early dynamic logic of graph change. Our first contribution is a characterization theorem for sabotage modal logic as a fragment of first-order logic which is invariant with respect to a natural notion of ‘sabotage bisimulation’. Our second contribution is a sound and complete tableau method for analyzing reasoning in sabotage modal logic. Finally, we identify and briefly explore a number of open research problems concerning sabotage modal logic that illuminate its complexity, placing it within the current landscape of modal logics that analyze model update, and, returning to the original motivation of sabotage, fixed-point logics for network games.

On games and logics over dynamically changing structures
In the classical framework of graph algorithms, program logics, and corresponding model checking games, one considers changes of system states and movements of agents within a system, but the underlying graph or structure is assumed to be static. This limitation motivates a more general approach where dynamic changes of structures are relevant. In this thesis, we take up a proposal of van Benth...
متن کاملOn the µ-Calculus Augmented with Sabotage
We study logics and games over dynamically changing structures. Van Benthem’s sabotage modal logic consists of modal logic with a cross-model modality referring to submodels from which a transition has been removed. We add constructors for forming least and greatest monadic fixed-points to that logic and obtain the sabotage μ-calculus. We introduce backup parity games as an extension of standar...
متن کاملModal logic programming revisited
We present optimizations for the modal logic programming system MProlog, including the standard form for resolution cycles, optimized sets of rules used as meta-clauses, optimizations for the version of MProlog without existential modal operators, as well as iterative deepening search and tabulation. Our SLD-resolution calculi for MProlog in a number of modal logics are still strongly complete ...
متن کاملDecidability for Justification Logics Revisited
Justification logics are propositional modal-like logics that instead of statements A is known include statements of the form A is known for reason t where the term t can represent an informal justification for A or a formal proof of A. In our present work, we introduce model-theoretic tools, namely: filtrations and a certain form of generated submodels, in the context of justification logic in...
متن کاملKripke completeness revisited
The evolution of completeness proofs for modal logic with respect to the possible world semantics is studied starting from an analysis of Kripke’s original proofs from 1959 and 1963. The critical reviews by Bayart and Kaplan and the emergence of Henkin-style completeness proofs are detailed. It is shown how the use of a labelled sequent system permits a direct and uniform completeness proof for...
